Leadership Team
Sara Power grew up in Atlanta. Georgia and came to Corvallis in 1975 to pursue a PhD in Geology. She married, had 2 children, finished her degree, and taught Physics and Chemistry at West Albany High School. Sara also taught life skills at Linn Benton Community College before entering Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO in 1990.
Sara pastored churches in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana until 2002 when complications of multiple sclerosis led to her early retirement. She returned to Oregon to live closer to her adult children. Since then, she has been an active volunteer working for food security and more recently directing shelter operations for Room at the Inn (2013-2020). She is passionate about assisting women, who have experienced a great deal of life trauma, find and live their best lives.
Since retirement, Sara is enjoying grandchildren, quilting, and training her 2 dogs, and continuing to advocate for women and neighbors who do not have safe and secure housing.
