Lisa Hawash

Leadership Team

Lisa Hawash is a resident of Corvallis and is an Associate Professor of Practice and MSW Program Director at Portland State University's School of Social Work. In 2018, she co-founded the Homelessness Research Action Collaborative, a research center at PSU with seven of her cross-campus colleagues. Lisa has been a faculty member at PSU since 2011 and worked for many years leading the fund development program at Sisters of the Road in Portland, OR. For nearly twenty years Lisa has worked alongside our unhoused community members to create spaces to build community and to organize against injustices by bringing forward community member testimony to Portland City Council and to representatives within the Oregon Legislature. Lisa's social work practice and research focuses on hygiene access for unhoused community members and consulting with various nonprofits and governmental agencies to provide organizational and community assessments to refine programs to be more sustainable in the long term.

Lisa enjoys working around her home, gardening, raising goats, and spending time with friends. She also enjoys sewing and refinishing furniture, and traveling with her family every summer to Nablus, Palestine where they have a large extended family and community.
