Unity Shelter was established and registered as a corporation in January 2020. Soon thereafter, Unity Shelter sought 501(c)(3) non-profit status through an application process submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The application for non-profit status was approved by the IRS in March of 2021 and applied retroactively to January 31, 2020.
As a charitable organization, donations given to Unity Shelter are tax deductible as outlined in the IRS' tax code. Please consider your accountant's and/or attorney's professional and legal advice regarding your specific donation(s).
